Scraping Sheep Hides at MBF

Thursday, May 15, 2025 11am-2pm Ages 9+ 

[Scholarships do not apply for this workshop]

In this special one time workshop, Meadows Bee Farm will let students inside the process of how we cure and scrape our sheep skins to create beautiful carpet pieces. We use very traditional techniques of salting, stretching, and scraping the skin, as well as picking through the fiber to make these into a wonderful addition to any home. Adults and children above 9 years old are welcome to this workshop.A farm snack of yogurt smoothie and granola will be offered, students with food allergy/sensitivity should bring their own food. Water bottles always encouraged. Please dress warm as part of this workshop will be outside.

We will be meeting at the craft barn, across from the small yellow house, past the main garden on the Main Farm Property. 4856 Windham Hill Rd. Windham, VT 05359

Note: We will be working with animal skins of our past livestock, we will be talking about the life and death cycles require in real farming. Please ensure you discuss this with your children first if you prefer.
